Church Work Crew does Yard Work for Widow
BY QUANNAH LEONARD REPUBLICAN-AMERICAN WATERBURY —

The loud sound of a pressure washer filtered into the living room of Isabella Griffin as she spoke with a Waterbury Church of Christ parishioner. That industrious music accompanied by other yard work-related sounds blanketed her property on Chestnut Hill Road for about three hours Saturday morning. At least 20 church volunteers raked her yard, trimmed trees, spray washed her walkway, weeded, painted her doors a cheery pink and stained her deck.

"It does mean a lot," said Griffin, 79, who is legally blind and has arthritis. "Appreciation is very difficult to express, I think." Mark Williamson of Bristol spray washes a sidewalk at a home on Chestnut Hill Road in Waterbury Saturday. Volunteers from the Waterbury Church of Christ spent time helping an elderly woman with her property.

Welcome to the website of Waterbury Church of Christ

We hope that our home on the internet can be a resource for members of our body, area congregations, and for the Waterbury-area community.

It is also our hope that we can share some of the warmth, love, and compassion that Christ has shown for us with everyone to whom we come into contact.

We will sincerely appreciate your worshipping with us. We pray that the worship will bless and encourage you. We also hope that you will want to return. Perhaps you are not familiar with the worship in a congregation of the church of Christ.

*A Note on our Name: When we use the name "church of Christ" we are using it in the "generic" sense (see Romans 16:16). That is, we are simply a church that belongs to Christ!

Please don't confuse us with any denominations of similar name, like the International Church of Christ, Boston/Crossroads Movement (ICC / ICOC) or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons).

Money Matters

 Matthew 25:14-30

“You can’t fake stewardship. Your checkbook (credit card statement) reveals all that you really believe about stewardship. Your checkbook reflects your goals, priorities, convictions, relationships and even the use of your time. A person who has been a Christian even for a short while can fake prayer, Bible study, evangelism, and going to church and so on but he can’t fake what his checkbook reveals.” (Ron Blue).

Fruit of the Spirit

The third virtue of the fruit of the Spirit is found in Galatians 5 is peace. Peacemaking does not come as naturally as trouble making. We do not have to learn to be troublemakers but we do have to learn how to be peacemakers.

Some one said that peace is that glorious moment in history when everybody stops to reload.
