Faithfulness Always Captures God’s Attention

In every local congregation of the body of Christ, there is a brother or sister being faithful in God’s good work. At times, the work that is being done is clearly vital and very public – it’s the nature of the work being carried out for God. But some labor is not always on public display.  It involves hidden, concealed, but very important work for the glory of God and the good of others. We should never assume that our work for God is trivial, unimportant, and insignificant. I’m often mindful of the good work of Dorcas. She was not a preacher, teacher, elder, or deacon. She labored without a title. But this is what the Scriptures say about her – “At Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which is translated Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds which she did.” (Acts 9:36). Notice the word: “full,” which indicates a high level of consistency – work performed time and time again, over and over again. Every congregation has members who labor like Dorcas. They show up repeatedly to serve others and please God. And yes, these are the faithful and reliable working members who make a tremendous difference in the life and labor of their congregation. Without a doubt, their good work captures the attention of the all-seeing God. At Waterbury, this church is truly blessed by those reliable members whom you can count on to be available and actively involved in the work that needs to be done. These hard-working members make a BIG DIFFERENCE in our church family. VHH
