Our view of eternity and heaven will largely determine how we decide to live on earth. Think about it. Those who spend enough time, sufficient time, a lot of time wrapping their minds around the joys of heaven, will do what God calls them to do to be welcomed there. It makes sense to me; it takes a heavenly mindset to attain a heavenly reward. This is exactly what Paul is exhorting the Colossian, believers to do, to always remain in a heavenly mindset: “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on things on the earth.” (Colossians 3:1-2).
In His preaching ministry, Jesus spoke often about the kingdom of heaven. This line is found in the Gospel of Matthew: “Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matthew 4:17). Translation. Don’t let wrongdoing cause you to miss out on living eternally in the greatest place ever. On another occasion, Jesus said, “The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it, he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.” (Matthew 13:44). Translation. We must make heaven our number one focus and pursuit. We can do this, but how? Spend more time reading Bible verses on heaven. Pray more about going to heaven. And talk more to fellow believers about the joy of heaven. VHH
