Quick update on COVID-19 guidelines for houses of worship

There have been some questions recently about what the guidelines are that churches are following, and some confusion about the recently announced fines for gatherings above 25 people. Good news that the 25 person limit is not intended to apply to houses of worship.

Here’s a link to the State of CT document outlining the current guidelines for churches…

The important note from the document is…

“Effective immediately, the 49-person limit on religious, spiritual and worship gatherings is raised for indoor gatherings to 25% of capacity of the indoor space or a maximum of 100 people, whichever is smaller, and to 150 people for outdoor gatherings, provided in each case that appropriate safety and social distancing measures shall be employed. ”

The church building is currently set for a capacity of ~250 people in the main auditorium, and another ~50 in the classroom space. Following the current guidelines, that works out to ~70 people upstairs, and another ~10 people downstairs.

If at some point we do exceed the main auditorium capacity, the plan is to spread out a bit downstairs with our TVs to ensure we keep things safe and comfortable for members attending.

Hope to see YOU this Sunday.
