The God Who Establishes His Presence With Us

“For He Himself has said, I will never leave nor forsake you” Hebrews 13:6

It’s true. As we sink into the deepest recesses of our feelings, we can feel totally forgotten by God. The heartache of some personal experiences provokes us to feel all alone – left by ourselves to deal with one thing or another. But we must make a clear distinction between what we are feeling and the truths about God that we read in the Scriptures. God knows who we are: “But God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: The Lord knows those who are his” (2 Timothy 2:19). God also knows where we are in life and what we are going through. David declared it: “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there….Even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me” (Psalm 139:7,8,10). It’s the devil’s BIG LIE that God is distant and disinterested in the life experiences of His children. We must move through life holding on to this faith-based declaration: “God is always above me, always ahead of me, always with me, and always for me.” Yes, God declared it: “For He Himself has said, “I will never leave nor forsake you”, So we may boldly say: The Lord is my helper (Hebrews 13:6). It’s true, the Lord God is always by our side. VHH
